Mexican driver Sergio "Checo" Pérez unveiled his special edition helmet for the Mexican Grand Prix, which will take place this weekend at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. During a press conference at Plaza Carso, Checo presented his new helmet inspired by lucha libre, an important part of Mexican culture of which he is a great fan along with his children. The helmet design features a lucha libre mask, reflecting the passion and fighting spirit of the driver.
"I really like Mexican culture and lucha libre; I watch it all the time with my kids, I'm also a fighter, so I wanted to put a mask on the helmet," Checo Pérez mentioned during the presentation. This special helmet design represents the driver’s taste and identity, as he has declared himself a fan of lucha libre both on and off the track.
In addition to the helmet presentation, Checo Pérez also clarified the rumors about his possible departure from Red Bull at the end of the Formula 1 season. The Guadalajara driver stated that he will continue racing with the Red Bull team next year, thus dispelling any speculation about his future in the top category of motorsport.
"I know what's there, and there is no doubt that I will be here next year," Checo Pérez mentioned about his continuity with Red Bull. With two podiums at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in 2021 and 2022, the Mexican driver aims to continue achieving success in his career, defending his position in the Formula 1 grid.
